Our Class Garden Boxes

Another FANTASTIC week has occurred in 4th grade!  We are working hard, having fun, and going on great adventures every day.  I love to watch students persevere through tough concepts and conquer them with confidence.
We planted flowers in our garden boxes this week.  We planted tulips, which won't arrive until Spring, and some perennials that we can enjoy now!  This is perfect timing because we are studying the parts of plants, how plants reproduce, and the roles of each part.   Pictures are below.
Thank you so much for all the love and gifts you showered me with on my birthday!  I appreciate each thoughtful action.  I am one lucky girl to have such special blessings in my class!  Pictures below.
Mark your calendars fro Grandparent's Day on September 14.  More details to come soon.
Have a FABULOUS long holiday weekend!

Raps and Songs Help our Minds Grow Strong!

Another week is in the books and we are learning SO MUCH!  The students are TOTALLY ROCKING 4th grade!  I am so proud of their hard work, dedication to keep trying, and their sweet behaviors towards each other!  They are filled with kindness and joy.  I love seeing the light of Christ shine through each of my 15 blessings!
Raps and Songs make our Minds Grow Strong..... This week in Math, we have been practicing and reviewing Rounding to certain place values.  To help us with this concept, we have been using our "Rounding Rap".  The students LOVE it and it has really helped them grasp this tough concept!  Ask your students to say it for you!  For English, we did some differentiated learning called Cubing.  Students roll a die and each number represents a different activity.  Many of the groups rolled and decided on creating a song to teach subjects and predicates.  They were so cute and I enjoyed their creativity.
Dr. Jones (Mrs. Jones's husband) led our Chapel this week!  The Lower School loves when he leads Chapel.  His energy and passion for Christ is a great example to all our students!
Our first home football game is TOMORROW (Friday)!!  I would love to see all my students and their families at the game!  Come cheer our Fighting Eagles on to a VICTORY!
    Have a GREAT week!

Is there a Doctor in the House??

What a week we have had!!  We are starting to settle into our routine, learn our expectations, and start exploring new concepts/topics!  In Math, we are working on place value, comparing numbers, and writing numbers in the 3 forms (standard, word, and expanded).  In English, we had lots of doctors in the house to repair our sentence fragments (pictures are below!)  The students LOVED this activity!  Today, we built a plant cell using various materials and food!  It was a blast (picture below)!
Our CitiSaver and Smart Card Fundraiser kicked off today!  If we get 60% school wide  participation, we have no school on August 31.  So.......  SELL, SELL, SELL!  Thank you for your help in raising funds for our school!
I am so blessed by the fifteen students in my class!  They are joyful, kind, polite, and love to learn!  It is going to be an AMAZING year!  Enjoy the pics below!

First Few Days!!

We have had a FANTASTIC first few days of 4th grade!   We have worked hard and practiced our procedures and expectations.  Respect, kindness, and responsibility were three words we decided we wanted our classroom to be filled with every day!  The 4th and 5th graders did many team building activities where we focused on positive comments, working together, and remembering that we are a team that is filled with respect.
I cannot wait to see the adventures we will go on this year!  Thank you for your love, support, and dedication to me and EHCS!  I appreciate you!
